6/29 NATIVITY UPDATE Contact Bridget Kearney for details of letter writing campaign!

CATHOLIC ACTION!!!
TO LAOH MEMBERS:
This letter is in regard to the NYC Dept.of  Education's  ban on the Christmas Nativity Scene.  It is a reminder that a  press conference to announce legislation on the NYC  Department of Education's Holiday display policy is scheduled for
SUNDAY, JUNE 24, 2007 AT  1 p.m.,  CITY HALL STEPS

The support of all Catholics and other Christians is required.  It is very important to have a strong representation on the steps of City Hall  to defend our rights and to show that this is a worthwhile and active cause.  I received a request for directions -   City Hall is located at 250 Broadway, (Broadway and Park Row), in lower Manhattan across the street from the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge and Pace University.  Parking should be easy to find on Sunday.

 ESSAY CONTEST AWARDS

County President Maureen Leahy and County Irish Historian Joan Kearney held an awards ceremony for the winners at St. Francis de Sales on March 26, with the assistance of Rockaway Division President Lily Corcoran, Rockaway Division Irish Historian Bernadette O'Brien and other Ladies from the Division.  A great way to observe March as Irish History Month!

Our County President and Irish Historian held an awards ceremony for the First and Second Place winners of the County's contest for high school students at Townsend Harris High School in Flushing on March 28.  A big thank you to our Division Irish Historians for promoting the contests, and to Eileen Smith and Marion Keyes of Division 9 for judging all the contest entries!
